Holiday

~     ~     ~
I remember you on holiday,
feeling the sun’s anger beating down.
For he cannot join us in paradise.
Tan lines invisible in the dark,
our hands explored,
using our warm skin to guide the others.
Splayed along the coast,
sand sticky like rice,
we bathe in the ocean,
and inhale the sea.
I remember you on holiday,
lest I forget any detail.
We’ll wrap in our hammock,
and sing sweet shanties through the night.
And come daylight,
we’ll begin again.
